The Fretz Corporation - Project Description
The Fretz Corporation is an exclusive wholesale distributor of high-end residential appliance products.
The company represents some of the most prestigious manufacturers in the appliance industry such as: Sub-Zero (refrigeration systems), Wolf (wall ovens, ranges, cooktops & hoods), Asko (dishwashers & laundry products), Franke (sinks & faucets) and ventilation systems by Best and Independent. As a wholesale distributor, The Fretz Corporation sells only to a limited number of displaying retail appliance dealers, kitchen dealers and custom homebuilders.
Since 1932, The Fretz Corporation has operated its wholesale distribution business solely in Eastern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and Delaware. In January 2002, The Fretz Corporation acquired the distribution rights for the aforementioned products in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. As a result, The Fretz Corporation acted upon its vision to establish a “World Class Showroom Environment,” to display these products in a 12,000 square foot space located in Columbia, Maryland.
The showroom experience had to be consistent with the prestige of the products represented and met or exceed the expectations of consumers interested in high-end niche kitchen appliances. In addition, the space had to seamlessly incorporate a local sales office.
The Fretz Corporation’s showroom at 9204 Berger Road, in Columbia, Maryland incorporates a vast collection of uniquely designed features to transform the cold dark shell of an industrial/office lease space into a warm and friendly residential setting for the presentation of high-end residential kitchen appliance products.
The overall architecture of the space conveys a feeling of vast openness and passive elegance. High ceilings averaging 10 to 13 feet in height with diverse ceiling treatments, lighting and materials (Redwood and Copper Trellis details, Decoustics fabric wrapped curved acoustic panels, Ultima Vector ceiling systems by Armstrong and curved drywall ceilings with pop-ups and pop downs)act as graceful elements throughout the space.
Oversize doors (spanning from 8’ to 11’6” high) in cherry and maple, in solid core and with custom designed glass divided lights and arched transoms add to the overall warmth and residential feel of the space.
Flooring materials such as slate, oak, cherry, ceramic, granite, marble, and an assortment of carpets compliment the overall palette.
Once inside of the 2,000 square foot, fifty (50) seat, live cooking “Kitchen Studio” you are at the heart and soul of The Fretz Corporations showroom. This live cooking venue allows consumers to see how well these kitchen appliances perform and function, first-hand and in-person. Additionally, this venue is the stage for the televised show “The Fretz Kitchen” aired five (5) days a week to literally millions of televisions viewers from Maine down through Virginia. |

Timonium Two, managed by Jackie Youngcourt of Bavar Properties Group, LLC with Merritt Properties, LLC, received the BOMA 2004 Award of Excellence for superior performance.
BOMA has this to say about Timonium Two:
Fronting I-83 north of the Baltimore beltway, this beautiful green glass building developed by Bavar Properties Group and Merritt Properties is the emerald jewel in the partnership’s crown.
The stunning seven-story 206,000 square foot Class A office building with an adjacent 800 space parking garage is as technologically advanced as it is physically beautiful. From the magnificent 2 story marble lobby to the computerized state-of-the-art HVAC system with full redundancy, the building is built to superior specifications for elegance and customer comfort. No corners are cut, literally, as the generous 30,000 square foot average floor plates each accommodate 18 corner offices. Five high-speed traction elevators equipped with a card access system to provide maximum accessibility and security within the building. Other amenities include nine foot ceiling heights, concealed loading docks and close proximity to the Timonium Business Park light rail stop. Timonium Two is maintained to the highest standard of customer service and operating efficiency through the on-site management of Bavar Properties Group.
David Bavar and Leroy Merritt recognized the potential of this strategically located property in the early 80’s and acquired the 28 acre site, which was then occupied by the Timonium Drive-in Theatre. With the most recent addition Timonium Two, the Timonium Business Park now includes approximately 500,000 square feet of office space and a 250 room hotel and conference center. |
